Joshua Veldstra : Photographer & Owner

Joshua was born and raised in the stunning, small town of Homer, Alaska. And yes, it is Joshua, not Josh, just ask his parents.

At age 17, he developed an interest in capturing images how he saw them while he was traveling in Europe and the Middle East. So for his 18th birthday his parents sent him an Olympus digital camera and he began to teach himself how to translate that same real life beauty into photographs. He later studied studio and photo processing with the talented photographer and filmmaker, Jelani Memory, in Portland, Oregon. His hobby turned career has led him all over the world, from India, the UK, to Europe, New Zealand, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and the Middle East, but lead him back his beautiful Alaskan home town, Homer.

In 2010, Joshua turned his long time passion into a reality and made photography his full time career. It was one of the best and scariest decisions he had made. Since that time he has been published in numerous magazines, such as Alaskan Bride and Groom, Be Wed, The Press, The G.O.O.D.S. and Dark Beauty Magazine, and his photos have been used for world renown company, Grundens. Joshua's photographs have also been published Vogue Italia's PhotoVogue. And we are thrilled to announce he was recently voted Alaska's Best Photographer four years in a row (2017, 2018, 2019& 2020)!

Joshua specializes in wedding, editorial, portrait, fashion and fine art photography.

Brittney Veldstra : Business Director & Owner

Brittney is a lifelong Oregonian turned Alaskan transplant in 2014. She was born and raised in the foothills of Mt. Hood in a gorgeous little mountain town that is a lot like Homer. After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at University of Oregon in Eugene (Go Ducks!), she ran a job search center for Goodwill Industries and helped hundreds of people find jobs in the community. In 2014 she left her home state, family and a career she loved and followed a boy she met at one of her best friend's weddings two years prior. Later that year that boy became her husband and is now her business partner (p.s. it's Joshua).

Brittney is our Business Director, which basically means she does a little bit of everything to help keep JVP running smoothly! From emails, office work, bookkeeping, photographer's assistant, and second-shooting, on special occasions makeup and conceptual design for creative sessions, she loves doing it all! Working alongside her husband and supporting his passion for photography is truly a dream come true!
